Carlos Holguín

My name is Carlos Holguin and I have been participating in Models UN since a year and a half. I’ve worked in different commissions like the UNHCR in the Model UN Asobilca and in the CCPCJ on CCB MUN. In my short but satisfying experience in Models UN, I’ve won the experience I need to start to create my path toward the world of international politics and strategies that are in great demand for today’s professional standards. More importantly, I believe that Model UN is the stage for young minds to begin the change that the world will eventually need and desire. The decision of changing this world is in your hands! Having this in consideration, OAS is for me one of the most important elements of the United Nations because in a very broad sense, it’s the UN of the American states and the economic and democratic powers in this continent that move the gears of all the international organizations and corporations.

Valentina Velasco

My name is Valentina Velasco, I am the vice president of the Organization of American States. I've participated in 2 past models and I sincerely believe that the models have enriches my academic and social skills. Model Unites Nations should be taken as a great opportunity, because it puts you in a challenging and diverse environment that improves problem solving and analytic skills. The only way that the model will be beneficial and interesting will be if you give it your all, are committed and come prepare; representing your country accurately. OAS is a commission that takes care of many problems that hit very close to home and that impact many of the decisions American countries make. The commission shows the interaction of all of America's countries and I believe that you will really enjoy it. I really hope you have fun and have a great time.

Dear delegates,

The experience of a model UN is of great importance for you lives! This exercise not only leaves you with significant leadership skills but it also helps you to learn and understand other cultures, countries and their respective solutions to worldwide issues. Therefore, what your president and vice-president are asking from you in this model are three simple things: Complete commitment with the commission and its topics, responsibility with the due dates and in-model discussions and finally (and probably the most important part) enjoy!
