Melissa Zuñiga

Hello delegates! My name is Melissa Zuñiga and I am honored to be your president in WHO this year. I have participated in past models, debating against representatives of other nations in order to reach viable solutions for a variety of issues. In this commission, our primary role is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system. Keep in mind that you’ll be involved in an extremely important branch of this organization, presenting ideas and proposals in the point of view of your country, and defending its stand from the arguments of others. It’s definitely a memorable experience that will not only boost your interest in universal matters, but will also allow you to develop your communication skills and create bonds with your peers. More than a duty, it is a pleasure. Take advantage of this opportunity.

Hello, my name is Ximena Silva and I am currently a 10th grade student in Colegio Bolivar. Being a part of Model UN has truly enriched my life, and made me become more aware of my surroundings. My goal is for you to have an excellent experience as delegates and help you acquire the skills necessary in order to become a brilliant debater. Welcome to the World Health Organization! We are pleased to work with you as the chair of this commission for this model. We sincerely look forward to working with you all in a comfortable and respectful environment in which the priority is not to compete but rather to have an enthusiastic experience while gaining new knowledge about health issues. We are excited to guide you in the WHO this year, entity responsible for public health within the United Nations system. Because of the great importance of this commission we expect everyone to be prepared and eager to learn. Our goal is to encourage investigation and interest for the topics that will be discussed in order to have a wider world perspective about world health systems. We want you to bring up your true potentials empowering you to become better delegates. If at any point you have any questions, please feel free to talk to us so that we can solve your concerns.
